Today greets me with some excitement as I’ve been nominated for my first little blogging award. I feel honoured to be getting recognition from other’s in the blogging community for the general nonsense that I type. This is also the perfect opportunity to get to know me even more, so lets get to it: the weird, random and magical – 7 facts about me.
Firstly, thank you to Justyna for the nomination. I would add in a link here to her blog, and her own post for the Versatile Blogger Award, it’s however unfortunate that the blog no longer exists. The thought is still there though and at the time of nomination (which wasn’t very long ago) I thoroughly enjoyed reading her own take on this, too!
– Versatile Blogger Award
“If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger award.
* Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
* Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
* Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
* Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
* Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.”
You may already be aware but I’m a little, okay – a lot, obsessed with Harry Potter. The books are a million times better than the films, of course. If I was any of the characters I’d be a combination of Tonks, Luna and Hermione. I’d be Tonks due to her overall awesomeness, clumsy ways and the fact we’re both evidently a metamorphmagus. I’m similar to Luna because of our caring nature and generally eccentric personalities. Finally, Hermione and I share a love of books, I also like to think I possess intelligence. I’d be that girl at Hogwarts, swatting up on anything possible, acquiring a time turner purely to do absolutely everything.. Immersing myself completely in all that Hogwarts and the wizarding world has to offer!
I delight in attending Wizarding events. Last year I attended Draigcon with my best friend, we also took my daughter with us to the School of Wizardry in our home town, and enjoyed a weekend getaway to London for the studio tour. This year we’ll be attending Draigcon for it’s second year with VIP tickets. In the words of the great J.K. herself –

Another little obsession I’ve recently developed is a love for watching clay modelling videos, using polymer clay. I feel that taking this up as a hobby would be a great stress reliever and the type of creative outlet that I’d adore. It’s the type of hobby that would teach a person to slow down and encourage focus. I don’t currently have the space for such a craft unfortunately, however if I ever find myself getting the space the first thing I’ll be doing is jumping onto that bandwagon, for sure. What hobby would you like to try your hand at?
I have a favourite scar and yes you read that correctly. It’s one that I acquired as a child. It was in the run up to Christmas and my Dad left some fairy lights on the floor, asking me to sort them out for him. I knelt on a broken one, the glass cut into the bottom of my right ankle (at the front) and left a scar. It resembles an upside down horseshoe, isn’t that supposed to signify luck? I sure didn’t enjoy getting the scar but I’ve always appreciated it’s uniqueness.
I can’t get a shower if the shower floor is wet before I’ve turned on the shower, under any circumstance. Yes, I realise this probably sounds extremely odd (I did say I’d be part Luna) but I’ll honestly have a strip wash next to the shower, instead. It doesn’t matter how badly I need to shower, I simply can’t bring myself to do so. The wet floor just creeps me out, I’d say it makes me cringe but it doesn’t. It’s kind of like that, only a sick feeling instead. It’s just icky.
Before living in an open plan home, I loved the idea of open plan. Now that I’ve lived in an open plan bungalow I absolutely hate the whole notion. I find it impossible to switch off or focus solely on different tasks because of it. Example, if I’m trying to work and there’s dishes in the kitchen that need washing I can feel them boring into the back of my head with their non-existent evil eyes. On the same note, I feel like I can’t relax at home, because there’s either cleaning I should be doing, work I could get through or something else constantly demanding my time.
I also loved the idea of living in a bungalow before living here, yet several years on and I miss having a staircase! Yes, I know I’m insane. I just crave that upstairs/downstairs divide and the perceived ‘normality’ of it all.
I’m stuck between being a night owl and desperately wanting to be a morning person. I’m torn, because my best work and inspiration always comes late at night, but getting up on a morning gives me more time to get household tasks done and offers me the opportunity for a little of that elusive self care we all seem to be chasing – before the rest of the house get up and all hell breaks loose! Why can’t I be a vampire and do both, just never sleeping at all? Think of everything I could accomplish then…
When I was six years old I wanted to have six children and be a single Mom. Well – I got a part of that wish, whilst I only have the one child I am indeed a single Mother. I was a very odd child, usually they dream of the big white wedding and plan out their bridesmaids.
I wouldn’t opt for six children now, it’s an even number, it would have to be odd for my liking. It couldn’t be five either because five is too in the middle thus making it feel even. My favourite number is thirteen, but ha ha ha… No thanks. Thirteen children would kill me! I barely have a shred of sanity now as it is! However, there was once a time that I did think I might like thirteen.. Yes, insane. I agree!
